According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Sunderland, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have all expressed interest in Juventus and France midfielder Khephren Thuram, making initial enquiries regarding a potential transfer deal.

The Black Cats are yet to confirm their first signing of the summer as they prepare for their debut appearance in the Europa League. Their preparations have been buoyed by the news that Granit Xhaka is likely to stay at the Stadium of Light despite strong interest from Chelsea.

The Switzerland international was one of the key arrivals during Sunderland’s busy recruitment campaign last year, helping to lay the foundation for what turned out to be one of the most remarkable seasons in the club’s history.

While new additions are anticipated, Sunderland’s director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, has emphasised that maintaining stability will remain the club’s main focus for the remainder of the current transfer window. Several names have been linked with a move to Wearside, and Khephren Thuram’s name has surfaced amid uncertainty surrounding his future with Juventus.

The report further mentions that the 25-year-old midfielder has attracted interest from several major clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and Liverpool. Additionally, Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, along with European champions Paris Saint-Germain, are also among the clubs said to be monitoring Thuram’s situation. Nottingham Forest are reportedly in a strong financial position following the £115 million sale of Elliot Anderson.
