Chelsea are reportedly ready to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho this summer, as new manager Xabi Alonso undertakes a major restructuring of the senior squad. The Argentina international, who joined from Manchester United in a high-profile £40 million move less than a year ago, has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
According to Football London, the Blues are open to approving Garnacho’s permanent exit during the upcoming transfer window after an underwhelming debut campaign in England. The 22-year-old winger has failed to impress the club hierarchy enough to be seen as a long-term fit for Chelsea’s project, despite his significant transfer fee from United last summer.
Although Garnacho signed a long-term contract extending until 2032, he has not been able to secure a consistent starting place. The Argentine featured in 43 matches across all competitions in his first season but never fully cemented his role, amid a turbulent period that saw three different head coaches take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Garnacho’s reputation, however, remains strong in Italy. Despite his struggles in the Premier League, he continues to attract interest from several Serie A clubs. Napoli, Juventus, and AC Milan are all reportedly monitoring his situation, while Roma are exploring a potential loan arrangement to bring him to Italy.
Chelsea, though, have taken a firm position regarding his future. The club’s recruitment department has ruled out any short-term loan deals and will only consider permanent transfer bids that can help recover their original investment.
Several European clubs are keeping close tabs on Garnacho’s uncertain situation, though no formal negotiations have yet been initiated. Chelsea, confident in the player’s youth and potential, are prepared to wait for substantial offers as the summer transfer window progresses.
The decision to move Garnacho on comes as part of a broader and more aggressive squad overhaul aimed at financial balance and rationalising the team’s composition. In the same context, academy product Tyrique George has completed his medical ahead of a permanent transfer to Everton after impressing during a loan spell there in the latter half of last season.
Additionally, Chelsea have indicated that several key first-team players, including Trevoh Chalobah, Filip Jorgensen, Andrey Santos, Malo Gusto, and possibly even midfield star Enzo Fernandez, could also be made available for transfer if suitable offers are received.
