100 Rupee Note: While shopping, we often receive notes that leave us wondering whether they are genuine or counterfeit. Here is how you can identify a genuine ₹100 note.
How to Recognize a Genuine ₹100 Note: When shopping, we often receive loose change, which may include notes that raise doubts about their authenticity. Some counterfeit notes look remarkably similar to genuine ones, making them difficult to distinguish. However, here is how you can verify the authenticity of a ₹100 note.
RBI Explains How to Identify a Genuine Note
The official RBI website provides comprehensive information about Indian currency. Its 'Banknotes' section outlines methods to verify the authenticity of various notes. For instance, there are seven specific tips to help you determine whether the ₹100 note you hold is genuine or fake.
- There is a 'see-through register' (a security feature visible from both sides) displaying the numeral '100' on the bottom-left side of the note; it becomes clearly visible when held against the light.
- On a genuine note, the denomination '100' is also written in the Devanagari script.
- The portrait of Mahatma Gandhi appears in the center of the note's obverse (front) side.
- The right side of the note features the guarantee clause, the RBI Governor's signature (along with the promise to pay), and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) emblem.
- A number panel is located on the bottom-right side of the note, featuring numerals that increase in size from small to large.
- There is also a number panel on the top-left side of the note, where the numerals appear to increase in size.
- The Ashoka Pillar emblem is featured on the bottom-right side of the note. You can effectively distinguish between genuine and counterfeit notes using these seven methods outlined by the RBI. This will ensure you do not fall victim to any kind of fraud or scam.
