Delhi: The ICC on Monday announced the Team of the Tournament for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Even though the Indian team failed to make it to the semi-finals this time, left arm spinner Shri Charani made it to this prestigious team on the basis of his brilliant performance. Shri Charani was the only player to be selected from India in the tournament. She made a record of becoming the highest wicket taker bowler in the entire tournament by taking 14 wickets in five matches.

Shri Charani showed his strength in every match

Shri Charani bowled consistently impressively throughout the tournament. He took at least two wickets in all the five matches played. His best performance came against the Netherlands in the group stage, where he played a key role in India’s victory, registering impressive figures of 4/19.

Australia’s dominance, four players got place

The Australian team, which won the Women’s T20 World Cup title for a record seventh time, had the most dominance in this Team of the Tournament. Four players from Australia were included in the team. The captaincy of the team was handed over to Sophie Molineux, who achieved the feat of becoming the second most successful bowler of the tournament by taking 11 wickets in seven matches. Beth Mooney was selected as the wicketkeeper, while Elise Perry and Ashley Gardner also became part of the team.

Two players from England included

From runner-up England, opening batsman Danny Wyatt-Hodge and captain Nate Sciver-Brunt got a place in the team. Ireland’s Orla Prendergast, Sri Lanka’s Nilakshika Silva, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp and Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana also became part of the Team of the Tournament.

Apart from this, Scotland’s opening batsman Darcy Carter was selected as the 12th player. She has become the first cricketer from Scotland to make it to the Team of the Tournament of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

Danny Wyatt-Hodge and Beth Mooney also created big records

England’s Danny Wyatt-Hodge scored 302 runs in the entire tournament and became the first player to score more than 300 runs in an edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. At the same time, Beth Mooney created history by playing the match-winning innings of 64 runs against England in the final. She achieved the feat of winning both Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament awards for the second time, which has happened for the first time in the history of Women’s T20 World Cup.
