French star Kylian Mbappe has responded to the insulting comments made by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla.
The senator made offensive remarks about the French team after France beat Paraguay in the Round of 16 match on July 4.
The controversy erupted after Amarilla criticized Mbappe on social media over claims he failed to shake hands with Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill following the match.
In response, the French captain issued a strong response on his official X account.
Mbappe wrote in his statement shared on July 6 “Madame Celeste Amarilla, You are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honour throughout the competition.”
The statement continued “Through your recklessness and your brazen racism, the entire world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country.”
Mbappe-led France will face Morocco in the Quarter Final on Friday, July 10.
