Former Manchester United Defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Arsenal’s Radar as Potential Replacement for Ben White

Arsenal have reportedly added Aaron Wan-Bissaka to their list of potential right-back signings for the summer transfer window as they prepare for the possible departure of Ben White.

The Gunners, led by Mikel Arteta, ended their 22-year wait for a Premier League title last season, claiming the championship after a remarkable campaign. Their success also saw them reach the Champions League final, where they narrowly lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties.

Following their triumphs, Arsenal now have additional financial strength and are taking a patient approach to secure the right players this summer, even as many of their rivals have already begun strengthening their squads.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano earlier disclosed that Arsenal plan to bring in three or four high-quality players, with right-back among the key positions targeted. He mentioned, “Arsenal are still very satisfied with what they did [in January], but in the summer they’re going to be busy. I think there could be three, four signings for Arsenal, also based on exits, but there will be movement up front. I already told you, winger is an absolute priority for Arsenal. A striker is a possibility, in midfield and at right-back. Arsenal have been searching for players since January already, that in January they didn’t find the right opportunity, and so they didn’t want to waste their money.”

Reports have suggested that Ben White could depart the Emirates after being displaced in the starting lineup by Jurrien Timber. If Arsenal sanction his exit, White is expected to attract significant interest from several clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal have now turned their attention to West Ham United’s Wan-Bissaka, who has emerged as a surprise option among 11 potential right-back targets. The North London club are ‘preparing for the possibility’ of White leaving this summer and are pressing ahead with plans to strengthen the position, despite White’s recent knee injury.

TEAMtalk also lists Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, Barcelona’s Jules Kounde, Real Madrid’s Raul Asencio, Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, RB Leipzig’s Lutsharel Geertruida, Roma’s Wesley, Monaco’s Vanderson, Feyenoord’s Givairo Read, Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, and Sporting CP’s Ivan Fresneda as other names under consideration.

The potential move for Wan-Bissaka, a former Manchester United defender, is said to be ‘generating significant internal discussion’ at Arsenal. Sources close to TEAMtalk claim that the DR Congo international is expected to become available this summer following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.

The report further notes: ‘Sources indicate there is a belief within the club that his profile could complement Timber well, offering Arteta another reliable defensive option capable of handling elite wide players.’

TEAMtalk adds that ‘no final decision has been made’ but confirms that Arsenal are conducting extensive background checks on the 26-year-old defender, keeping him firmly in their plans as they finalise their shortlist for the upcoming season.
