Lucknow: Taking an important decision in the interest of farmers and livestock farmers, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the Chief Minister Risk Management and Livestock Insurance Scheme. This proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. After the implementation of the scheme, livestock insurance will be provided in all 75 districts of the state, which will provide financial security to livestock farmers in case of illness, accident, natural disaster or death.
Animal farmers of all districts will get benefits
The objective of the government is to protect small and marginal farmers, dairy operators and cattle farmers from economic risk. Under the scheme, cow, buffalo and other eligible animals will be insured, so that the loss due to any unexpected incident can be compensated in time.
Compensation will be given in case of epidemic and accident
Under the new scheme, if there is an epidemic, serious disease, accident, natural disaster or death of an insured animal, then insurance benefits will be given as per the prescribed rules. This will provide relief to livestock farmers from sudden financial losses and the impact on their livelihood will be reduced.
Government will bear a major part of the premium
The biggest feature of the scheme is that 85 percent of the insurance premium will be borne by the state government, while 15 percent will have to be deposited by the beneficiary. The government believes that by providing insurance facility at low premium, more and more farmers and livestock farmers will be able to join this scheme.
Will be implemented in the entire state in a phased manner
After cabinet approval, the scheme will be implemented in all 75 districts of the state. The concerned department will soon issue detailed guidelines, after which eligible farmers and livestock farmers will be able to get their animals insured as per the prescribed procedure. The government believes that this scheme will prove to be a security blanket for the animal husbandry and will give new impetus to the agriculture as well as animal husbandry sector.
