According to local television channel Hiru, the dead included both prisoners and prison officials. This prison is located about 35 kilometers north of Colombo. It is not yet clear what caused the clash. But it is being told that during the riot on Monday, some prisoners snatched the weapons of the jail, after which the violence increased further and the situation became fatal.
