
Ayodhya, 6 July. After the case of theft of offerings in Shri Ram temple located in Ayodhya came into limelight, a meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was held for the first time on Monday. During this meeting, the resignations of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra were accepted. Krishna Mohan has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the Trust in place of Champat Rai.
Treasurer Govind Dev gave information to the Trust in the press conference.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri confirmed these decisions in a press conference called in the evening after the meeting was over. He said that a committee has been formed to appoint special officers and the trust will meet again on July 22. He expressed hope that by the time the meeting is held again on July 22, the final report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) can also come.

It is noteworthy that Champat Rai had resigned from his post last month amid allegations of alleged theft and embezzlement of offerings made by devotees in the Ram temple. The news of Champat Rai’s resignation came to light on June 26, while the Trust had issued a letter on June 27 informing about his resignation. At the same time, Anil Mishra had also left his post as a member of the Trust.

Meanwhile, before the meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had issued a letter on Monday saying that he has full confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It is written in this letter that he is deeply hurt by the theft of offerings in the Ram temple, but he has full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. No one should do politics on this matter.
Govind Dev had presented clarification on alleged embezzlement on Sunday
Earlier on Sunday, Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri had written a letter ‘to the devotees of Ram’ and clarified on the alleged embezzlement of donations to Ayodhya Ram temple. Emphasizing financial transparency in his letter, Govind Dev had clarified that ‘the entire account of the trust fund is audited’ and authorized persons can check it at any time. He also said that during his tenure he has accepted ‘very limited donations in cash or gifts in kind’ of which records are available.
8 accused are in custody after preliminary report of SIT
It is noteworthy that the SIT has so far arrested eight accused in the case of alleged theft and irregularities in donations and offerings in the Ram temple. After the three days of judicial custody of these eight accused was over, they were again sent to judicial custody for 14 days on June 29.
Within 10 days of its formation, on June 23, the SIT submitted its preliminary report to the state government. After this, on the evening of June 25, an FIR was registered against eight people in this case and they were arrested. All the accused named in the FIR were part of the team which counted the offerings of 40 donation boxes after they were delivered to the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre.
