Australia Finish Another Perfect Campaign
Having already put up a tranquil and clinical display in the final Australia went out to hunt a target of 151 set by West Indies. In the end they chased down that total with 17 balls to spare to make it the highest successful chase in a Women's T20 World Cup final.
This also ended England's undefeated record in the women's World Cup on the home ground and handed Australia a record seventh title of their eight final appearances.
Beth Mooney was at her stellar best once again under pressure. With an impressive 64 she contributed to a 100-run partnership with Phoebe Litchfield after Georgia Voll departed cheaply. Litchfield just fell short of a half-century after scoring 48 and Mooney's innings saw her draw level with Nat Sciver-Brunt for the most fifties in Women's T20 World Cups.
Following Mooney's departure, Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner both starred as Australia won comfortably with Perry collecting her seventh winners' medal from the Women's T20 World Cup.
Earlier England steadied from an early wobble thanks to captain Nat Sciver-Brunt who was still there on 58 joined by fellow 19-year-old Freya Kemp who made 44. Their largely unbroken 80 run second-wicket stand took England to 150/4.
Nevertheless the disciplined Australian bowling attack, spearheaded by the likes of Lucy Hamilton, Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland and skipper Sophie Molineux managed to contain the England batters until the batters brought to end Australia's eventful World Cup winning effort.
