Cricket Updates: Taking a big decision, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again handed over the captaincy of the Test team to Babar Azam. Babar has returned as Test captain after almost three years. He will lead Pakistan in the upcoming Test series against West Indies and England. Both series are part of the World Test Championship 2025-27. Pakistan’s performance under the captaincy of Shan Masood remained disappointing. Under his captaincy, the team won only four of the 16 Test matches played between 2023 and 2026, while losing 12 matches. For this reason, the selectors decided to change the leadership and once again expressed confidence in Babar Azam.

Babar Azam’s record as a Test captain has been relatively better. He captained Pakistan in 20 Test matches, in which the team won 10, lost six and drew four.
Pakistan has also included new players in the team for the upcoming series. These include left-arm spinner Ali Usman, batsman Mohammad Awais Zafar, fast bowler Ubaid Shah and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Ghazi Ghori. These players may get a chance to play Test cricket for the first time.
Pakistan will first play a two-Test series against West Indies from July 25. After this, the team will play a three-Test series on England tour from August 19.
