During a conversation on veteran actress Simi Grewal’s popular chat show ‘Rengueview with Simi Grewal’, Vidya Balan recalled the early days of her career. She said, “At that time, I had given many auditions and gradually I started feeling that perhaps this film would also be out of my hands. In such a situation, I had almost given up hope.”
Vidya told, “The day my luck was about to change, I was present at the concert of famous singer Enrique Iglesias. I had switched off my mobile phone so that no one would disturb me. A friend who was with me, who also worked with director Pradeep Sarkar, suddenly got a call from Dada.”
Recalling that moment, Vidya further said, “Dada asked my friend where is Vidya? Is she in the concert? He said yes, she is right here. After this when I took the phone he told that Mr. Chopra i.e. Vidhu Vinod Chopra wants to talk to you.”
Vidya said, “At that time, I was sure that I had been called to tell me that I had not been selected for the film, because I had already given many auditions and got rejected every time. However, the next moment I heard the words, it changed my entire life.”
Vidya told that Vidhu Vinod Chopra told her, ‘Vidya Balan, you are my Parineeta. I trust you and I am confident that you will always honor our trust.”
It is noteworthy that ‘Parineeta’ was a film based on the novel of the same name published in 1914 by the famous Bengali novelist Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. It was also the directorial debut of Pradeep Sarkar.
