Jansuraj Party founder Prashant Kishor will contest from Bankipur assembly seat in Bihar. With PK fielding from here, the contest became interesting, because this area is a stronghold of BJP. The seat became vacant after the resignation of BJP President Nitin Naveen. Voting will take place here on July 30. Let us tell you that Prashant Kishore had already said that if needed, he himself would contest the by-election from Bankipur.

Apart from Jansuraj, no other party has announced its candidate yet. Nitin Naveen was a continuous MLA from here since 2010. With the entry of Prashant Kishor in one of the strongest strongholds of BJP, this political fight has become straight Jan Suraj vs BJP.

Why was the seat vacant?

Nitin Naveen was the MLA from Bankipur. But after becoming BJP President, he was sent to Rajya Sabha. After becoming a Rajya Sabha member, Nitin Naveen resigned from the membership of the Assembly. He was MLA from here a total of four times. The matter became interesting with the entry of Prashant Kishor in the elections and it will also be the first litmus test of the Samrat Chaudhary government.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, the last date for filing nominations is July 13. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 14. July 16 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Voting will be held on Bankipur assembly seat on July 30. Counting of votes is on 3rd August. The election process will be completed on August 4.

How is Bankipur a stronghold of BJP?

Bankipur assembly seat was known as Patna West before 2008. After delimitation, Bankipur Assembly was formed. Nitin Naveen won the by-election from Patna West Assembly seat for the first time in 2006. Before this, his father Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha had won elections three times in a row. In 2010, BJP made Nitin Naveen its candidate from Bankipur seat. Nitin Naveen won consecutively in 2010, 2015, 2022 and 2025 assembly elections.

What are the challenges before BJP?

  • BJP has held the Bankipur assembly seat since 1995. This is the first by-election after Samrat Chaudhary became the CM. In this respect the challenge is also big. The match has become interesting with PK entering the field. It remains to be seen whether BJP can save its stronghold under the leadership of Samrat Chaudhary or not.

  • Bankipur belongs to the current national president of BJP Nitin Naveen. Due to it being a traditional seat, Nitin Naveen’s reputation is also associated with this place. If the expected results are not achieved here, it will send a far reaching message politically. To avoid this, BJP will use its full strength.
