Johan Manzambi: Manchester United Must Outperform Rivals to Secure His Signature

Manchester United may need to widen their search beyond the Premier League as they look for a suitable replacement for Casemiro.

Although Ederson has joined from Serie A, the Brazilian is viewed more as a smart financial move than as the long-term answer Michael Carrick seeks for the midfield gap left by Casemiro.

The Red Devils have already missed out on Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes due to high transfer fees, and their pursuit of Alex Scott might face a similar outcome.

INEOS consider Aurélien Tchouaméni their ideal target, but Chelsea appear to be leading the chase. Meanwhile, Tchouaméni’s compatriot and teammate Eduardo Camavinga could potentially end up on the blue side of Manchester.

The steep cost of acquiring Ayyoub Bouaddi, along with Lille’s firm stance, could pose a significant challenge. As a result, supporters should not be surprised if United opt for a more affordable alternative.

One such option is Switzerland’s Johan Manzambi, who has long been admired by INEOS. The Swiss youngster has been one of the standout performers at the ongoing World Cup.

The 20-year-old’s versatility has been a major asset — he can play both in central midfield and as a supporting striker. His sharp attacking instincts have been evident in the USA, where he has scored three goals and provided two assists so far.

It is no secret that Carrick wants additional support for Benjamin Sesko. The SC Freiburg star could address both needs and is said to be available for around £60 million. However, according to reports from The Daily Mail, Newcastle United are currently leading the race to sign the talented midfielder.

“A deal for Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi is being discussed by Newcastle but progress has not been as swift as hoped. He is currently with his country at the World Cup.

“Manchester United are said to have a longstanding interest in the 20-year-old, and Manzambi’s impressive performances in North America have certainly not gone unnoticed.

“Newcastle have been informed that they are in pole position, and the financial aspects involving the player and his club Freiburg should not pose a problem, but they once thought the same about Munoz. Manchester United’s main midfield focus remains Alex Scott of Bournemouth.”

It remains to be seen whether United will act decisively to overtake Newcastle in the chase. A hesitant approach might once again see them lose out on another promising talent.
