New Delhi: At present, monsoon has fully gained momentum across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a serious warning of heavy to extremely heavy rain in many states of the country on July 5. According to meteorologists, a low pressure area has become active over the North-West Bay of Bengal. Due to this effect, monsoon activities have intensified in central and western India. Due to which the crisis of floods and waterlogging has arisen in many areas.

The Meteorological Department estimates that overall the country may receive slightly less rainfall than normal in the month of July and the temperature will also be slightly higher. But the torrential rains at the local level are going to be a big problem for the people.
Outcry in Maharashtra
Monsoon has caused the most devastation in Western India. IMD has issued ‘Red Alert’ for Gujarat, Konkan-Goa and Central Maharashtra. The continuous rain in Maharashtra for the last 24 hours has completely disrupted life. The department has expressed the possibility of similar situation continuing till July 6. Emergency response teams are on high alert in coastal districts like Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

The local train service, which is called the lifeline of Mumbai, has been badly affected by this rain. Dombivali railway station and local market have been completely submerged, while shops in Amrit Nagar have been submerged in water. More than 1,000 people from about 150 families are trapped in their homes as roads in Vasai’s Mithagar colony are waist-deep in water.
Condition of North and East India
Talking about North India, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan. Whereas in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh, there may be light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. Strong winds at a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour are also expected in these areas, although humid weather will persist in some parts.

The weather patterns are harsh in Eastern and North-Eastern India also. Red and orange alerts have been issued due to heavy to extremely heavy rains in Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand. Along with this, there is a warning of lightning and heavy rain in north-eastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. The Meteorological Department has advised the general public to stay away from waterlogged areas and stay in safe places.
