A miraculous call is rising from the silence of the Himalayas. The surrounding snow-capped peaks seemed to be initiated by some cosmic spell. This is no ordinary journey. It is like an endless journey in search of eternity. Kailasa-Manas Sarovar—Holy ground not only for Sanatana devotees but also for Buddhists, Jains and other followers. However, this journey of 2026 is very different from all other years. In a strange cosmic connection, the year has become a unique spiritual festival. Many call it ‘Kailas Mahakumbha’.
According to Tibetan and Buddhist tradition, 2026 is the sacred ‘Year of the Horse’. This special time comes once in twelve years. But this time the greatness is deeper. Because, not only the year of the horse, after 60 years the ‘year of the fire horse’ is back. In Tibetan astrology, the horse is a symbol of strength, freedom and spiritual progress. And fire brings the infinite radiance of purification and transformation. The spiritual power of Mount Kailash is at its peak now due to the combination of these two. Devotees believe that during this time all the positive energies of the universe are concentrated in this virtuous abode of Devadeva Mahadev.

The main attraction of the Kailas Yatra is ‘Parikrama’ or ‘Kora’. Crossing this 52 km route around the foothills of snow-covered mountains is an extreme challenge for the devotee. According to Buddhist belief, circumambulation of this special fire horse once a year around Kailash is equivalent to circumambulating 13 times in a normal year. That is, spiritual attainment increases 13 times in one fell swoop. Besides this there is the sacred Manas Sarovar situated at a height of about 4,590 meters above the sea level. According to folklore, taking a dip in the icy waters of Manas Sarovar during this Agni Ashva year washes away the bad karma and sins accumulated over the course of birth after birth. People are freed from all negative reforms.

Kailash Yatra 2026 is a rare opportunity. Millions of people want to touch this holy land despite the difficult roads, lack of oxygen and bone-chilling cold. Because, overcoming all the complications of life and seeing the light of a new dawn may never come again. If you lose this opportunity, you will have to wait again until the next year 2038. So who can afford to ignore the call of confused Shiva! All in all, this year’s Kailas-Manas Sarovar Yatra is going to be an unforgettable experience in the life of every pilgrim.
