Developments in the transfer saga of Alex Scott are anticipated in the coming days, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs revealed on X that Arsenal and Manchester United are among the primary admirers of the Bournemouth midfielder, with several clubs preparing to test the Cherries’ stance on the player imminently.
Previously speaking on talkSPORT, Jacobs mentioned that Bournemouth’s valuation for the 22-year-old could reach as high as £80 million.
Recent information suggests that Arsenal are targeting both Scott and Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes as top priorities, despite their ongoing interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The North London club, however, are expected to face strong competition from Manchester United for Scott’s signature.
Jacobs wrote: “Bournemouth have made it clear to Alex Scott that they are not keen on selling him. A new contract was offered in March or April, and discussions are set to continue through the summer. The club is comfortable whether Scott signs a fresh deal, likely to include a release clause, or remains on his current terms.
“Manchester United are expected to consider a move, while Arsenal also have him on their radar. Andrea Berta already made an enquiry and was informed that Bournemouth do not wish to sell. Manchester City and Chelsea also appreciate Scott’s abilities. Several clubs are preparing to challenge Bournemouth’s resolve in the coming days.”
Scott is regarded as one of the brightest young midfield talents in English football, and this summer could define the next stage of his career. Choosing the right destination will be key to his progress.
At present, a switch to the Emirates Stadium appears to make more sense than a move to Old Trafford, should the choice come down to those two options.
Arsenal have developed a strong reputation for improving players in recent seasons and could quickly integrate Scott into a vital role, while also giving him the opportunity to learn from an established Premier League midfielder like Declan Rice.
Manchester United, though still an attractive destination, have endured a turbulent period, with several high-profile signings struggling to reach their potential at the club.
As reigning Premier League champions, Arsenal seem better placed to continue their success and add more trophies in the near future, while Manchester United remain in transition. For Scott, a move to North London could therefore be the more beneficial step for his career.
