Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was given his maiden India cap before the second T20I against England. He is the youngest cricketer to represent India, going past the record of Sachin Tendulkar in international cricket. After being benched for three matches since making it to the Indian team, the 15-year-old was finally given a chance in the second contest of the five-match series. He replaced struggling Sanju Samson in the playing XI. He was given the India cap by Tilak Varma.
The southpaw was called up for the tours of Ireland, England and the Asian Games 2026 after his sensational performance for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2026. The team management preferred Samson and Abhishek Sharma in Ireland and the series opener in England, but they were forced to change the opening combination after Sanju Samson amassed just 6 runs in three games.
