Nawabganj police station has achieved great success by arresting two vicious thugs who were withdrawing money from people’s accounts by changing ATM cards. Police have recovered 29 ATM cards of various banks and Rs 8,000 in cash obtained through fraud from the possession of the accused.

According to the police, on July 2, 2026, the Nawabganj police station team arrested Aditya Yadav alias Chhotu (22), resident of Raipur Tiai, police station Lalganj Aijhra, district Pratapgarh and Ravi Patel (22), resident of Bargdaha, police station Manikpur Kanda, district Pratapgarh, near India ATM located in Mansoorabad. On the basis of recovery and interrogation, legal action was taken by registering case number 267/2026, under Section 318(4)/317(2) of the Indian Justice Code, at Police Station Nawabganj.

Used to target innocent people

During interrogation, the accused told that they used to promise help to elderly and less knowledgeable people who came to withdraw money from ATM. During this time, they used to change his ATM card and during the conversation, he also got to know his PIN number. Later, he would go to another ATM and withdraw money from the account using the same card. They used to fulfill their hobbies and expenses by dividing the money received from fraud among themselves.

29 ATM cards and cash recovered

Police have recovered a total of 29 ATM cards of different banks and Rs 8,000 in fraudulently obtained cash from the possession of both the accused. In relation to the recovered ATM cards, the police is also investigating which people have been made victims of fraud through them.

The criminal history of the arrested accused Aditya Yadav alias Chhotu has also come to light. Many cases are already registered against him in various police stations of Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh under theft, illegal weapons, Gangster Act and other serious sections. With the current arrest, a total of nine criminal cases have been registered against him.
