Sabudana Khichdi
Sabudana Khichdi is the most popular among fasting dishes. To make this, roasted peanut powder, potatoes, cumin and green chillies are added to soaked sago and ghee is tempered. Adding lemon juice and green coriander at the end doubles its taste.
Makhana Kheer
If you feel like eating something sweet during the fast, then Makhana Kheer is the best option. To make this, roasted makhanas are cooked in milk on low flame until it thickens. Then sugar, cardamom powder and chopped nuts are added to it. It is eaten as Prasad after offering it to Lord Shiva.
