A very important and big news has come to the fore for crores of consumers of the country who use LPG. Due to the new system implemented by the Central Government and government oil companies, the LPG subsidy coming into the accounts of many consumers may be blocked from the beginning of July. This major change will have a direct impact on those who have not completed the government rules and mandatory procedures within the stipulated time limit. In such a situation, it is very important for consumers to know why their subsidy can be stopped.
Consumers who miss e-KYC will have to suffer huge losses.
The biggest and main reason for the strictness of the rules is the process of electronic Know Your Customer i.e. e-KYC. The government had already issued clear guidelines in this regard that the subsidy of those gas consumers who have not completed their e-KYC verification by June 30 can be stopped with immediate effect. This entire process is based on digital verification, the main objective of making it mandatory is to completely eliminate fake, illegal and long inactive gas connections from the system.
These consumers will no longer get the benefit of government subsidy
According to the new update, gas consumers falling in certain categories have been completely kept out of the scope of subsidy. First of all, families whose total annual income is ₹ 10 lakh or more will not be given any subsidy on LPG as per rules. Apart from this, those people who had voluntarily given up subsidy under the ‘Give It Up’ campaign on the call of the Prime Minister, will also not get its benefit. Also, those consumers who have left the process of linking with their gas connection or e-KYC incomplete, will also be deprived of this benefit.
At present, a huge financial relief of ₹ 300 per cylinder is being given to the eligible beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). This amount is sent directly to the certified bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). But if the documents are incomplete, this money will stop coming.
After all, why did the government have to take these tough steps?
The main focus of the Petroleum Ministry and oil marketing companies is to extend the benefits of government money and subsidies only to the genuine and needy consumers. With the implementation of strict rules of e-KYC, duplicate connections running in the same name and commercial misuse in the market can be completely controlled. The government believes that this step will bring transparency in the entire LPG distribution system and stop black marketing.
Complete these tasks immediately to save your gas subsidy
If you want to continue availing the subsidy on your LPG continuously and without any interruption, then complete some important tasks immediately without any delay. For this, first of all get your e-KYC process completed immediately by visiting your respective gas agency (Indane, HP, or Bharat Gas) or through their official mobile app. Along with this, also ensure that your official document is correctly linked with your bank account and LPG Consumer ID. Consumers must also check the final verification status of their documents by visiting the online portal or their nearest distributor so that there is no problem later.
