Nottingham Forest have officially announced that manager Vitor Pereira and his entire coaching staff have parted ways with the club.
The development follows Pereira’s own statement in which the Portuguese coach described his departure as “a complete surprise and without any warning”.
Pereira, aged 57, had only joined Forest on an 18-month contract in February but managed to steer the team to Premier League safety and lead them to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
In their official note, the club expressed gratitude to Pereira and his staff for their “considerable efforts” and for laying “the foundations upon which we will continue to build.”
The statement posted on Nottingham Forest’s website read: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that Vitor Pereira has left his role as head coach following the club’s decision to exercise a mutual break clause in his contract.”
It continued: “His coaching team – Filipe Almeida, Luis Miguel, Bruno Moura, Marco Knoop and Pedro Lopes – have also departed the club.
“We wish to record our sincere thanks to Vitor and his team for their hard work and dedication during their time at Nottingham Forest.
“They represented the club with great professionalism, playing a vital role in securing our Premier League status, guiding the squad to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, and establishing a strong foundation for future progress.
“Everyone associated with Nottingham Forest is deeply appreciative of their efforts and the positive relationships they built with our players, staff, and supporters.
“We thank them all for their service and wish them every success in the next chapter of their careers.”
Several reports have indicated that Oliver Glasner is being considered as Pereira’s successor, following his departure from Crystal Palace at the conclusion of the previous season.
In his personal statement released on Wednesday, Pereira said: “Today marks the end of my journey as head coach of Nottingham Forest.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone associated with this remarkable football club.
“Although this decision came as a complete surprise to me and without any prior warning, I fully respect the club’s right to make decisions it believes are necessary for its future.
“Naturally, I am disappointed and saddened. I truly believed in the project we were building together, and I leave with pride in what we accomplished over the past few months.
“Together, we enjoyed a memorable conclusion to the season. We retained our place in the Premier League, reached the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, and created moments that will remain with me forever.”
