Actress Lisa Faulkner has revealed that she underwent surgery following a diagnosis of early-stage breast cancer. The 54-year-old, known for her roles in 'EastEnders' and Holby City, shared her health journey with her Instagram followers on Thursday, explaining that the procedure took place two weeks prior to her announcement.
Faulkner, married to chef John Torode, detailed her experience with candour and encouraged others to prioritise regular health screenings. "I've had to have surgery because I've had the very early stages of breast cancer. I had surgery two weeks ago, and it was quite a big op, but it's all good, and I've had my results back, and they've got everything out, and so it's all clear, and I just need now to have some radiotherapy in a few weeks," she explained.
The actress used her platform to emphasise the importance of regular mammogram screenings in detecting early-stage cancers. "I am so grateful that I went for my mammogram. Don't put them off go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn't have been picked up" she urged her followers highlighting how the screening procedure was crucial to identifying her condition before it could advance.
Faulkner expressed gratitude to the National Health Service for providing both the scan and early treatment that enabled her swift medical intervention.
Broader context of breast cancer awareness According to The Independent, Faulkner's announcement comes months after broadcaster Davina McCall, 58, revealed that she had received the "all clear" following surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer in October of the previous year. McCall, who also underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign brain tumour.
