Ayodhya, 2 July. Lawyers of Faizabad Bar Association took out a protest march on Thursday and lodged a complaint at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station regarding the alleged embezzlement case of offerings in Ram temple. The lawyers demanded registration of an FIR against Ram Mandir Trust general secretary Champat Rai, trust members Anil Mishra, Gopal Rao and complainant in the earlier case Krishna Mohan and an impartial investigation into the entire matter.

Bar Association President Kalika Prasad Mishra said that the lawyers took out a march from the court premises to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station and submitted a written complaint to the police. During this, slogans were also raised against the officials of the trust. The police had to struggle hard to control the crowd during the march. Some advocates alleged that they also suffered minor injuries in the scuffle. After reaching the police station, many lawyers gathered in the office of the police station in-charge and started demanding immediate registration of FIR.

Police officials assured the lawyers that the complaint will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken as per law. However, no official statement has been issued by the police yet in this regard. Kalika Prasad Mishra said that if FIR is not registered on the complaint then the Bar Association will start an agitation. He said that five members have gone to the police station to get the acknowledgment of the complaint and if the acknowledgment is not given then the protest will continue.

It is noteworthy that this controversy came into discussion when Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav had alleged embezzlement in the offerings of Ram Temple. After this, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government submitted its preliminary report on June 23. Based on the report, an FIR was registered on June 25 and eight people were arrested. During the investigation, the statement of Trust General Secretary Champat Rai was also recorded. He had recently offered to resign from the post of General Secretary, taking moral responsibility in this matter.
