As soon as July starts in Maharashtra, monsoon has taken a very violent form. Clouds have encamped in almost all the areas of the state including Konkan, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra and Khandesh and the pace of rain is continuously increasing. This relief raining from the sky has now gradually started taking the form of a disaster, due to which the possibility of life being affected has increased significantly.
According to the latest bulletin of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a very strong low pressure area (low-pressure trough) has become active from the coastal areas of Maharashtra to the North Kerala coast. Meteorologists say that due to the impact of this strong weather system, many parts of the state will see torrential to extremely heavy rains till July 6.
Red alert in Palghar and Pune, orange alert warning in these 10 districts including Mumbai
In view of the worsening weather, the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘red alert’ for the hilly and ghat areas of Palghar and Pune districts. Additionally, ‘Orange Alert’ has been declared for major heavily populated districts like Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara and Chandrapur. The administration has given strict instructions to the residents of all these affected areas to be extremely cautious and not to leave their homes without any necessary work.
Next 48 hours very sensitive for Konkan and Central Maharashtra
According to the Meteorological Department, the next 48 hours can bring huge trouble for the people living in the Ghat areas of Konkan and Central Maharashtra. There is every possibility of continuous torrential rains in these areas on 2nd and 3rd July. After this, there may be a further increase in the intensity of rain during July 4 to 6, due to which the risk of waterlogging and flood-like conditions in low-lying areas has increased.
Storm of disaster in all districts of Vidarbha, fear of rivers and streams overflowing
Intermittent heavy rains have been continuing in the entire Vidarbha region including Nagpur for the last two days. While the temperature has dropped in the sub-capital Nagpur after heavy rains on Wednesday evening, people have got a big relief from the scorching humidity. However, the Meteorological Department has warned that till July 6, there will be continuous torrential rains in almost all the districts of Vidarbha, due to which local rivers, streams and water bodies can swell rapidly. Due to this, orange alert has been maintained in Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara and Chandrapur.
Lightning will fall with strong winds in Marathwada, Meteorological Department cautioned
Talking about the districts of Marathwada, the intensity of rain is expected to be highest on Friday, while light to moderate rainfall can be recorded in the remaining days. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has given another big update saying that till July 4, there is a strong possibility of lightning along with strong thunder, lightning and strong winds in entire Marathwada and Central Maharashtra. In such a situation, farmers working in the fields and pedestrians have been advised to stay in safe places.
