Delhi-NCR Weather Today: Rain brought relief from heat, but traffic became a problem; IMD issued yellow alert

New Delhi, 2 July. Rain on Thursday morning brought great relief to the people of Delhi-NCR, who have been facing scorching heat and humidity for several days. Due to light to moderate rain in many areas of the capital and surrounding areas, a significant drop in temperature was recorded and the weather became pleasant. However, along with this relief, traffic jams also increased the problems of the people. Due to closure of traffic signals at many major intersections, long vehicle queues formed and people were stuck in traffic for hours.

IMD issued yellow alert

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert in Delhi-NCR for July 2. According to the department, the sky will remain cloudy throughout the day and light to moderate rain may occur in many areas. The Meteorological Department has also predicted strong surface winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, thunderstorms and lightning during the afternoon and evening. People have been advised to stay away from open spaces, trees and weak structures during inclement weather.

Big drop in temperature

Due to rain and clouds, a significant drop in the temperature of Delhi-NCR has been recorded. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature on July 2 is expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius. Compared to the last few days, the weather has become quite pleasant, giving people relief from the scorching heat and humidity.

Chances of rain for the next 5 days – According to IMD’s forecast, rain may continue in Delhi-NCR in the coming days.

July 3: Rain with thunderstorms, maximum 33°C and minimum 23°C.
July 4: Maximum 34°C, minimum 24°C, possibility of rain.
July 5: Maximum 34°C, minimum 23°C, rain with thunder.
July 6: Maximum 34°C, minimum 23°C, chances of light to moderate rain.
July 7: Maximum 35°C, minimum 23°C, possibility of rain and cloudy weather.

The Meteorological Department says that the same weather trend may persist in the capital and surrounding areas for the next several days.

Traffic system affected after rain

After the rain on Thursday morning, the traffic system on many busy roads and major intersections was disrupted. Due to closure of traffic signals at many places, there was a long traffic jam. Due to the school opening time, many school buses got stuck in jam, due to which children and parents had to face problems. At the same time, office going employees also had to remain stuck in traffic for longer periods than normal days.

People advised to be cautious

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, keep an eye on the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions in view of the possibility of strong winds and lightning.
