However, men can maintain their fitness and stamina by eating right, regular exercise and adopting a healthy lifestyle. According to experts, some easy habits can help in keeping the body active.
1. Eat a diet rich in protein
After the age of 50, protein is very important to keep muscles strong. Protein sources like pulses, eggs, cheese, milk, fish, chicken and soybean can help in giving strength to the body. Consuming enough protein can reduce feeling of weakness and fatigue.
2. Do light exercise daily
Physical activity is necessary to maintain stamina. Daily brisk walking, yoga, stretching and light exercise help in keeping the body active. Regular exercise improves blood circulation and can increase energy levels.
3. Get enough sleep
Good sleep is essential for the recovery of the body. After 50, many people may have sleep problems, but one should try to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Better sleep provides rest to both body and mind.
4. Eat fruits and green vegetables
Fruits and vegetables provide essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to the body. Banana, apple, papaya, green vegetables and dry fruits can be helpful in maintaining energy. A balanced diet plays an important role in meeting the needs of the body as we age.
5. Keep stress low and drink enough water
Stress can affect the body’s energy and stamina. Try to reduce stress through meditation, yoga and favorite activities. Besides, it is also important to drink adequate amount of water to keep the body hydrated.
