Bhojpuri film actor Pawan Singh formally started his new political innings by taking oath as a member of Bihar Legislative Council on Wednesday. Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected 10 Legislative Council members in a ceremony organized at the Bihar Legislative Assembly complex in Patna. Many senior leaders including Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary were present at the ceremony. ‎

‎The oath taking ceremony started with Lalan Prasad of Janata Dal (United). After this, Anil Thakur of BJP and Ashraf Ansari of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) took oath. Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar took oath as Legislative Council member at the fourth position, while Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh took oath at the fifth position. Both Nishant Kumar and Pawan Singh have reached the Legislative Council for the first time.

‎Lalan Prasad has been elected on the seat vacant due to the resignation of JDU National President and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar had resigned from the membership of the Legislative Council after becoming a Rajya Sabha member in March 2026. ‎ ‎

During the swearing-in, three newly elected women members also took oath as members of the Legislative Council. Apart from JDU’s Bharti Mehta and Shivrani Devi, Sheela Prajapati was included.

After this, Sanjay Mayukh of BJP took the oath, while Sunil Kumar Singh of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) took the oath of membership last. ‎ ‎With this swearing-in ceremony of Bihar Legislative Council, all the 10 newly elected members formally became part of the House.

The most talked about among these was Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh, who, after traveling from the entertainment world to active politics, has now started his new role as a MLA council member.

At the same time, this is also the first term of Health Minister Nishant Kumar in the Legislative Council. After taking the oath, all the members reiterated their resolve to work in the interest of the public while maintaining the dignity of the House. ‎ ‎
