There is news of relief for the people troubled by the scorching heat, because on July 2, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain, thunderstorm and strong storm in 19 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar.
New Delhi: Monsoon has once again become active in India and due to its effect the weather is likely to change rapidly in many parts of the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and hailstorm at some places in 19 states of the country for July 2. According to the department, wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour in many areas.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens, farmers and fishermen to exercise special caution. According to officials, it will be important to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather and follow the guidelines issued by the local administration.
Why is the weather changing?
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is active in the upper air over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. Apart from this, upper level cyclonic activities are also observed in Saurashtra and surrounding areas. Due to these weather systems, there is an increased possibility of widespread rainfall over the North, East, West and Central parts of the country.
Experts say that due to these weather conditions, heavy rains and thunderstorms may continue in many states for the next few days.
Possibility of heavy rain and storm in Delhi-NCR
There is a possibility of strong thunderstorm with heavy rain in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas on July 2. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 29 degrees Celsius. There is also a possibility of falling trees, waterlogging and traffic disruption due to strong winds.
Alert for many districts in Uttar Pradesh
There is a possibility of heavy rain and strong thunderstorm in western, central and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Meerut, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Bareilly, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and many other districts may experience heavy rainfall with winds at a speed of 75 to 80 kilometers per hour.
Warning of heavy rain in Bihar and Jharkhand also
Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast in many districts of Bihar including Patna, West Champaran, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Purnia, Supaul and Saharsa. There is a possibility of thunderstorm along with rain and hailstorm at some places in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Dumka, Hazaribagh, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and other districts of Jharkhand.
Travelers advised to be cautious in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
Alert of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in Bageshwar, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Haridwar and Rishikesh of Uttarakhand. There is a possibility of bad weather in areas like Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Sirmaur, Una and Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh. There may be an increased risk of landslides and road blockage in hilly areas, hence travelers have been advised to travel only after getting the latest information about the weather.
Impact in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh also
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected in many districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Ahmednagar, Chandrapur and Amravati. Rain and storm alert has also been issued in Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bharatpur and Dausa of Rajasthan. Heavy rainfall has also been predicted in many districts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Indore, Vidisha, Raisen, Balaghat, Seoni and Chhindwara.
Weather will remain active in other states including Punjab
Warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm has also been issued in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Fazilka and Firozpur of Punjab. Apart from this, monsoon activities are expected to remain intense in many other parts of the country also.
