The first T20 match between India and England was canceled due to continuous rain. There were about 45 minutes left in the start time, but due to continuous rain and not enough time to prepare the field for play, the umpires decided to cancel the match. Batting first, India scored 189/7 in 20 overs, but England could not even start their innings.
With this, India’s third consecutive match in Chester-le-Street remained inconclusive. Earlier, both the ODIs played here against England in 2002 and 2011 also ended without result due to rain. Due to the rain not stopping, the umpires, after inspecting the field, decided to cancel the match.
