If you are thinking of checking your PF balance or withdrawing money, then you will have to be a little more patient. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the suspension of its online member and employer services by one day. This means that essential facilities like online claim submission and passbook download will remain halted for the time being.

Now when will the service start?

According to the new update of EPFO, the ongoing maintenance work across the country has now been extended till 11:59 pm on July 1, 2026. After this, these online services are expected to start again from 12:00 midnight on 2 July 2026.

Why is there so much delay?

Actually, EPFO is doing a major database consolidation and software upgrade to further improve its claims processing system. This work has been going on since June 26. The department says that with this upgrade, the speed of claim processing will increase in future, the digital infrastructure will be strengthened and the security will also be stronger than before.

What was the planning earlier?

Initially this maintenance work was to end on June 28 and it was expected that all services would start from June 29. But considering the time taken in technical upgrade, EPFO has had to change its timeline.

Which services have been put on pause?

Until this work is completed, members and employers (companies) will not be able to use the portal. At present the following services are completely closed:

  • Submission of new online claims and processing of old claims.
  • Downloading PF passbook and tracking claim status.
  • Submitting PF transfer request.
  • Making corrections to profile or personal details (e.g. name, date of birth).
  • All digital services of EPFO available through UMANG app.
  • Routine compliance and administrative work for companies (Employers).

No change in interest rate

Amidst this technical change, let us remind you that the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) under the chairmanship of Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has decided to maintain the EPF interest rate at 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26 (FY26). This is the third consecutive year when there has been no change in the interest rate.
