Cape Verde is a strange duality. On the one hand, the primitive rhythm of Africa, on the other, the elegant form of Portuguese colonial culture. The main attraction here is its natural diversity. Sal or Boa Vista’s miles of sweeping white sands where the waves of the blue sea lap, the mind is bound to get lost. Again the mist shrouded green hills and valleys of Santo Antao are an absolute haven for trekkers. On the other hand, the black lava flow of the active volcano that rises up in the chest of Fogo Island is a rough yet primitive horror of nature. This diversity is the biggest attraction for tourists.
