Read Auto Desk. The sale of Bajaj Pulsar N125 has been discontinued in India. With this new news from the two-wheeler brand, the journey of a motorcycle which did not spend much time in the market has ended. If you were thinking of buying a new 125cc bike, this is important as it narrows down the number of options you have in India’s hottest segment.
Bajaj has not revealed why it discontinued it, but the whole story can be understood from its timing. The Pulsar N125 was launched with a lot of expectations, but it never made a common appearance on Indian roads. This matters a lot in a market where buyers have no dearth of options.
Why did Bajaj stop selling it?
The N125 was not a bad motorcycle. It just entered a segment where every buyer already had a favorite bike. If you go to a showroom to buy a 125cc bike, the first thing you will hear are the names of bikes like TVS Raider, Hero Xtreme 125R or Honda SP125. All of them made their mark in terms of mileage, styling or reliability in daily use.
Bajaj Pulsar N125 was stuck in a sticky situation. It had the name Pulsar, but in terms of price it was very close to Bajaj’s other motorcycles. By spending a little more money, some buyers opted for the larger Pulsar. At the same time, some buyers remained with the bikes of other companies on which they already trusted.
Bajaj Auto has not officially confirmed this. The company has quietly discontinued this motorcycle without announcing any replacement or explaining the reason for the decision.
What will be the impact on its owners?
If you already have a Pulsar N125, then there is no need to panic. Manufacturers do not stop supporting a bike immediately after production stops. Spare parts, servicing and routine maintenance continue for many years, so existing owners will not notice any difference immediately.
However, if you were planning to buy it, now you are only left with the stock available at the dealer as an option. Once that stock is sold out, this motorcycle will virtually be gone from the market.
What are the lessons for buyers?
The Indian two-wheeler market changes very rapidly. Launching a motorcycle is one thing, but convincing people to buy it every month is another. N125 could not make its place in the market. Between its existing rivals and Bajaj’s own other bikes, it failed to give buyers any compelling reason to choose it over the rest.
Sometimes a motorcycle is discontinued because it is old. So sometimes, due to competition he does not get a chance to move ahead. Pulsar N125 seems to fall in this second category.
