Speaking to ANI after the committee meeting, Barne said that a detailed presentation was given on the progress made in both solar and wind energy sectors and policy measures aimed at increasing renewable energy production. Barne said, "The standing committee on energy met today. The committee gathered information regarding wind energy. The committee was given information regarding the target of generating 100 gigawatt electricity from wind energy by 2030."

He further said, "Detailed information on the progress made in the solar and wind energy sectors was presented before the Committee. Information about the policies of the Government of India to generate energy, especially solar and wind energy, in the states where wind energy production is high will also be placed before the Committee."

Growing electricity demand and storage infrastructure

Earlier, Barne said the committee reviewed strategies to expand renewable energy capacity to meet rising electricity demand, especially during extreme heat. He said, "In every state of India, when summer increases, the demand for electricity also increases. The government has tried to increase the supply of electricity through solar, wind and hydro power."

He said the committee also discussed the need to expand energy storage infrastructure as power consumption increases due to urbanization and increased use of cooling equipment. "Storage capacity will also increase, and I think this will not be a problem in the future," Barane said.

Delhi EV policy and control on pollution

On Delhi EV Policy 2026, Barne said the government's broader objective is to curb pollution by promoting green energy and increasing public awareness. He said, "The government aims to maximize power generation by 2032 and curb pollution by prioritizing green energy and increasing public awareness; the government is making concerted efforts to reach every citizen. The Delhi government has attempted to achieve this objective."

The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved the Delhi EV Policy 2026, which aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, expand charging infrastructure and gradually transition multiple vehicle categories to zero-emission mobility. (ANI)
