A child died after a roadside peepal tree uprooted and crashed onto a school bus in Mumbai's Chembur on Tuesday afternoon. Two students were reportedly trapped inside the vehicle as rescue teams rushed to the spot. Traffic was severely disrupted while officials continued clearance and rescue operations.
Mumbai: A child died after a roadside peepal tree was uprooted and fell on a school bus in Mumbai's Chembur area on Tuesday afternoon, trapping 18 students inside the vehicle.
In a video shared by on its X account, the fallen tree can be seen crushing one side of the school bus.
Rescue operation launched
According to the latest reports, the incident that took place in Chembur’s 11 Number Road, a total of 18 students were trapped in the bus. While 4 were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, one student was reported dead due to the tree fall. The child has been identified as Vihan Shrivastav, 11 years old, and declared dead at 16:23 hrs.
