Mussoorie. The hooliganism of some tourists visiting the mountains of Uttarakhand is not stopping. The latest case is from the ‘Queen of Hills’ Mussoorie, where a huge uproar took place on the Mall Road on Monday night. Some rowdy tourists from Haryana not only flouted traffic rules but also attacked a local couple when they were interrupted. During this time, a drunk youth crossed all limits and started beating people mercilessly with an empty crate of cold drinks kept outside the shop. In this violent clash, a local woman’s head got injured, due to which she fell bleeding on the road. After this incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos on Mall Road for a long time.
Tourists get angry when asked to drive properly
Actually, on Monday night, a local couple was walking peacefully on Mall Road. Meanwhile, a speeding car with Haryana number coming from behind hit the couple hard. It was fortunate that he did not suffer serious injuries. On this, when the victim couple instructed the car driver to drive properly, the youth in the car lost his temper. The people sitting in the car immediately got down without thinking anything and started fighting without any conversation. According to the local people, the tourists had blood all over their heads and were behaving like dreaded criminals.
Cold drink crate turned into weapon
During the fight, one of the accused tourists picked up a heavy plastic crate kept outside the shop. He waved it in the air like a mace and hit it on the heads and backs of the people present there. The victim woman suffered serious head injuries due to this indiscriminate attack. Seeing the woman soaked in blood in the middle of the road, there was panic in the nearby market. As soon as the information was received, the Mussoorie Kotwali police team immediately reached the spot and arrested the main accused tourist who was creating ruckus. Mussoorie Kotwal Devendra Chauhan said that the youth has been detained on charges of assault and a case has been registered under relevant sections.
Police issued heavy challan, car seized
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that all the people in the car were completely under the influence of alcohol. After finding blatant violation of the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act), the police conducted a thorough search of the accused’s car and issued him a huge challan. Along with this, after the video of the incident went viral on social media, the police have taken it into their possession as evidence and further legal action is being taken.
Incidents of hooliganism are continuously increasing in Uttarakhand.
This is not the first case when tourists from outside states have disturbed the peace of Devbhoomi. Just last June 16, a similar case had come to light in Tapovan (Rishikesh) of Muni Ki Reti police station area, where a ruckus was being created by playing a loud DJ in a car with Haryana number. When the police stopped them, the girls sitting in the car got into a scuffle with the policemen themselves. Apart from this, there have been reports of tourists clashing with local people and police in Rishikesh, Karnaprayag and Nagarasu in recent times. Due to these continuously increasing incidents in the mountains, there is a lot of anger among the local people and they are demanding the strictest legal action against the outside miscreants.
