Chikkamagaluru Rains: Tunga and Bhadra Rivers Rise, Farmers Rejoice as Water Levels Increase

After experiencing an unusually intense spell of heat at the end of June, a rare occurrence in nearly three to four decades, the Malnad region witnessed rivers and streams drying up instead of flowing as they normally would during the monsoon.
However, moderate rainfall since Monday has significantly improved the situation, leading to a rise in the water level of the Tunga River.
The return of the rains has brought relief and renewed hope to farmers and plantation owners in Sringeri taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, who depend on the river for irrigation and their livelihoods.
