Huawei Mate 90 launch window
Huawei’s Mate 90 series is reportedly heading for a fall 2026 launch, with several leaks suggesting the flagship line could arrive as early as September rather than the later November timing seen in the past two years. The current information indicates that Huawei has confirmed the series for this year’s fall window, but has not yet given an exact date.
That would mark a return to Huawei’s earlier Mate launch pattern, when the company often unveiled its flagship phones in September or October. Reports say the series is expected to include multiple models, including the standard Mate 90, Pro, Pro Max and RS Ultimate editions.
Mate XT 2 may be separate
The leaks also suggest that the Mate XT 2 could follow a different launch path from the Mate 90 family. Instead of being folded into the main Mate 90 unveiling, the tri-fold device may be introduced separately, giving Huawei a distinct spotlight for its foldable line.
That would make sense given Huawei’s growing premium portfolio, where the Mate series and the company’s foldable products often serve different roles. Keeping the launches separate could help Huawei give each product line its own attention and marketing focus.
HarmonyOS 7 and Kirin chips
Huawei has already confirmed that the Mate 90 series will ship with stable HarmonyOS 7. The company’s recent software announcements and chipset roadmap also point to a new Kirin platform being tied to the same fall launch period.
Why the timing matters
An earlier Mate 90 launch would put Huawei in a stronger position for the second half of 2026, especially against rival premium phones expected around the same period. The move also keeps attention on Huawei’s in-house hardware and software ecosystem, which remains central to its flagship strategy.
For now, the most consistent takeaway from the leaks is simple: the Mate 90 series is expected this fall, while the Mate XT 2 may be reserved for its own reveal later on.
