Congo DR created history at the FIFA World Cup 2026 by reaching the knockout stages for the first time after a stunning 3-1 comeback win over Uzbekistan. Fiston Mayele scored along with Yoane Wissa, who netted a brace to seal victory.
Uzbekistan took an early lead through Eldor Shomurodov, but Congo DR fought back strongly to secure their first World Cup win in 52 years.
The victory helped Congo advance as one of the best third-placed teams, while Uzbekistan exited the tournament after finishing bottom of Group K. Congo DR will face England in the Round of 32.
