Actor Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola have become the subject of online criticism after the latter revealed on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa that the couple has been living separately for the past year and is now headed for a divorce.

During the premiere episode, Akanksha made the revelation while speaking to hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. She said, “Okay, so me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. Yeah, we’ve been separated, living separately for the last one year. It wasn’t public, but that’s my secret.”

She further clarified that the decision was mutual and that there is no animosity between them. “It was a mutual decision. We’ve been sitting on this for the last one year. Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We both don’t think that we are compatible as partners because we both see very different futures, and unfortunately, it’s not with each other. So, there’s no bad blood between us,” she shared.

Akanksha also explained why they chose not to make their separation public earlier. “Our parents thought we were just living separately for a while because sometimes couples need space to sort things out. Since we continued talking to each other, attended events together, supported one another, and shared everything, everyone believed things would work out. But that feeling of being a married couple was no longer there. I think this will be big news even for our families,” she added.

Following the episode, several social media users questioned the couple’s public appearances over the past year, particularly their anniversary celebrations. One user wrote, “If they were already separated for a year, then what was that 9th anniversary romance in BB?? Matlab seriously, itna fake #GauravKhanna, you and your wife have always been fake…”

Another commented, “Nowadays everyone is just acting; there is no real connection. The only thing I liked about #GauravKhanna was his wife and his beautiful relationship with her. Her cute, mischievous personality attracted me. But it all turned out to be acting.”

While the announcement came as a surprise to many fans, Akanksha maintained that she and Gaurav continue to share a cordial relationship despite deciding to part ways.
