Manchester United’s pursuit of a new left-sided option appears to be accelerating, with reports from Record stating that the club dispatched an official to monitor Maxi Araújo during Uruguay’s 2-2 draw with Cape Verde at the World Cup.

This was far from a routine scouting trip for United. According to Record, the Premier League side are “tightening their grip” on the Sporting Lisbon player, having followed his performances throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
