ESTAC Troyes have officially announced the transfer of 19-year-old Mathys Detourbet to Manchester City, another club under the City Football Group umbrella.
Detourbet played a crucial role in Troyes’ successful campaign to earn promotion back to Ligue 1. Across 27 appearances in all competitions, the young midfielder contributed four goals and seven assists. Having risen through the Troyes academy system, his performances had begun to attract attention from several clubs across Europe.
Given the existing connection between Troyes and Manchester City through the City Football Group, the Premier League champions were able to take charge of negotiations and have now completed the signing of the French talent. While ESTAC confirmed the move, the club did not reveal the transfer fee. However, reports from L’Équipe suggest that the deal is valued at around €25 million. The duration of Detourbet’s contract at the Etihad Stadium has not been disclosed.
According to L’Équipe, Detourbet is expected to be loaned out to AS Monaco for the upcoming season. The temporary move is likely to include an option for the Ligue 1 side to make the transfer permanent at a later stage.
