Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister for Communications and Development of the Northeast, along with his role as the local MP, participated in a tree planting event today at the Kuno River source in Kanja village. This initiative is part of the 'One Tree in the Name of Mother' campaign, called for by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where 700 saplings were planted. During this event, he also launched the 'Water Ganga Conservation Campaign – A People's Movement for Conservation,' emphasizing the need to make environmental protection and water conservation a public movement.
Key Steps Towards Water Conservation and Environmental Protection
During the program, Minister Scindia inaugurated a check dam constructed at a cost of ₹17.98 lakh in Chhinera village, Guna district. He stated that building water structures and conserving water sources is essential for a secure and prosperous India for future generations.
Collective Responsibility for Nature Conservation: Scindia
Addressing a brief public gathering, Scindia remarked that environmental protection is not merely a campaign but a responsibility towards future generations. He emphasized that the conservation of water, forests, and land can only be achieved through public participation, urging every citizen to actively engage in tree planting and the protection of water sources.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 'One Tree in the Name of Mother' campaign is evolving into a nationwide movement. This initiative symbolizes our sensitivity towards environmental conservation, motherhood, nature, and future generations.
Solar Plant to Generate 7.5 Million Units of Clean Energy
Additionally, Scindia inaugurated the Sangarner solar plant in Khutiyawad, which has been developed at a cost of ₹20 crore and boasts a capacity of 4.5 megawatts, expected to produce 7.5 million units of clean electricity. He stated that this plant is a significant step towards realizing the commitment to self-reliance and solar energy.
Environmental Protection's Role in Building a Developed India
Scindia emphasized that achieving a developed India requires a balance between development and environmental sustainability. He highlighted that water conservation, expanding green cover, and enhancing natural resources are the foundations of sustainable development. He urged citizens to commit to planting more trees and ensuring their protection.
