Madonna , the ‘ Queen of Pop ,’ is accustomed to basking in the limelight for decades with chart-topping songs about serendipity, female empowerment, and self-expression. However, the 67-year-old’s daughter has been cautious about collaborating with her mother in the public eye. Praising her offspring, the pop singer expressed that she does not want to be perceived as someone who takes advantage of the privilege.
Here’s a closer look at Madonna collaborating with her daughter, Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon.
Madonna reveals her eldest daughter co-wrote a song for ' Confessions II '
Madonna and her eldest daughter, Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon, co-wrote a song for the upcoming album, ‘Confessions II.’ The ‘Material Girl’ singer revealed that the 29-year-old was reluctant to collaborate, as she did not want to be seen as being privileged. “She approached me,” she said on 'The Graham Norton Show', before adding, “She's been very reticent to work with me. She doesn't want to be perceived as my daughter taking advantage of her privilege.”
Writing the song became a poignant, healing experience for the mother-daughter duo. “She has a much better voice than I do,” the singer confessed, before praising her daughter, “She didn't ask for this… she came to me and said, ‘Let's write a song together. I think it'll be a very healing experience.’”
Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon has received a spotlight for being the star's descendant, feeling resentment as a teenager, and pouring her thoughts into words as a method of overcoming those situations. “She had been, through her adolescence, struggling with those feelings for a long time,” Madonna said, adding how her daughter suggested writing their individual thoughts into one song.
‘Confessions II’ is scheduled for release on July 3, 2026.
