Portugal predicted lineup and latest team updates ahead of Colombia clash

Portugal are set to take on Colombia in a decisive final Group K encounter on Sunday at Miami Stadium, with the result determining which side finishes top of the group and who they will meet in the knockout stage.

Roberto Martínez’s side come into the match full of confidence following a commanding 5-0 win over Uzbekistan, in which Cristiano Ronaldo netted twice. That emphatic display came after a disappointing 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their opening group game. In their World Cup preparations, Portugal also demonstrated strong form, recording friendly victories over Nigeria and Chile, along with a goalless draw against Mexico.

Manager Roberto Martínez has the advantage of having nearly his entire squad fit and available for this crucial contest.

Central defender Rúben Dias has returned to full fitness and is expected to marshal the defence once again after featuring in the previous match.

The only slight concern for Martínez is Tomás Araújo, who is unlikely to start and is expected to remain on the bench as a precautionary measure.

With Portugal needing a win to leapfrog Colombia and secure the top spot in the group, Martínez is expected to deploy an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation.

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line, brimming with confidence after his two-goal performance in the last fixture.

Supporting him, Bruno Fernandes and João Félix will look to provide creativity and attacking impetus as they aim to unlock Colombia’s well-structured defence.

Expected Portugal starting XI: D Costa; Cancelo, Dias, Veiga, Mendes; Vitinha, Fernandes, J Neves; Neto, Ronaldo, Felix.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 12:30am BST on Sunday, 28th June.
