Marc Cucurella has shared that he would be delighted if his former Chelsea teammate Enzo Fernandez were to join him at Real Madrid during the upcoming transfer window.

The Spanish left-back recently brought an end to his four-year spell at Chelsea after completing a £52 million transfer to Real Madrid.

Cucurella’s departure followed weeks of speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge, with the club preparing for a fresh start under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

Now back in his homeland, Cucurella has openly expressed his hope that Fernandez could follow suit and make the move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Argentine midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to Madrid, though Chelsea are reportedly valuing him at around £120 million.

Cucurella revealed that he has already spoken with Fernandez since finalising his own transfer and would be thrilled to reunite with him in Spain.

“He’s a great player and a good friend of mine,” Cucurella said in an interview. “He congratulated me on the signing. I hope it happens.

“I would be very happy. We had a good time together at Chelsea, and it would be wonderful if we both ended up signing for Real Madrid in the same summer. I hope he’s lucky and becomes a Real Madrid player.”

The two players formed a close bond during their time together at Chelsea, sharing the dressing room through a challenging period for the London club.

Cucurella believes that Fernandez possesses both the skill and the mentality required to thrive at one of the biggest football clubs in the world and would relish the chance to play alongside him once again.

Reports suggest that new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has approved the potential transfer, with the Spanish giants showing readiness to meet Chelsea’s valuation.

Fernandez has previously hinted at his admiration for Madrid, having stated publicly that he would love to live in the Spanish capital one day.

Real Madrid are expected to formalise their interest in the World Cup-winning midfielder in the coming days.
