Raigarh Municipal Corporation imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on three establishments that obstructed drainage by throwing garbage in drains. A warning was also given of strict action in future.
Raigarh. Raigarh Municipal Corporation has launched a strict campaign against those throwing garbage in drains to maintain the cleanliness and better drainage system of the city. During inspection, a total fine of Rs 30,000 was imposed on three establishments that obstructed drainage by dumping garbage in drains. The Municipal Corporation says that such actions will continue in the future to prevent the problem of waterlogging during rains.

Fine of Rs 10,000 each on three establishments
During the action, Raigarh Cloth, A to Z Dresses and Sarvamangala Cloth were found guilty of dumping garbage in the drain. A fine of Rs 10,000 each was imposed on all three establishments. In this way, a total punitive action of Rs 30 thousand was taken. The Municipal Corporation has also warned the concerned traders that if such negligence is found again in future, legal action will be taken along with higher fine.
The new drain was clogged with clothing waste
According to the Municipal Corporation, the problem of waterlogging was faced every year during the rains in Sanjay Market, Gopi Talkies and surrounding areas. Keeping this in mind, a big and wide drain was made from Subhash Chowk to the culvert so that the rain water could drain easily. Investigation revealed that the clothing waste was being thrown from the rooftop directly into this new drain by the three shops. During the cleaning campaign, the corporation team removed more than two mini tippers of clothing waste from the drain. Due to this, during the recent rains, the drainage of water was disrupted and a situation of waterlogging was created in the area.
Corporation Commissioner gave strict warning
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Brijesh Singh Kshatriya said that dumping garbage in the drains affects the drainage system, due to which people have to face a lot of trouble during the rains. He clarified that there will be no compromise on the cleanliness and civic amenities of the city. Similar strict action will continue against those who violate the rules.
Appeal to traders and citizens to follow the rules
The Commissioner appealed to all traders and citizens to dump garbage only at designated places and follow solid waste management rules. He has instructed all the sanitation inspectors to keep a constant vigil in their respective areas and take immediate action against those breaking the rules, so that the cleanliness and drainage system of the city is not affected.
