This feature gained huge popularity in a very short time. Circle to Search is one of Google’s most popular AI-powered tools. After this now the company is coming with a new feature. Google Chrome is getting a new feature called Select from Screen with Gemini, which will offer a similar experience to Circle to Search.

This new feature allows users to quickly select on-screen content and add it to the Gemini prompt. Instead of searching for information by typing, users can select a part of their screen and send it directly to Gemini for help. On Gemini’s updated support page in Chrome, the company has shared information about the new ‘Select from Screen’ tool. To use this feature, users have to click on Ask Gemini in Google Chrome on desktop. On mobile, the new ‘Select from Screen’ tool will work exactly like the Circle to Search feature. Users can select a part of their screen and ask Gemini about it. The company says that the ‘select from screen’ tool is useful in various situations. Like, highlighting a few pairs of sneakers and asking which pair is best for running style. In addition, capture part of a diagram to gain clarity, select a part of a page to rearrange it, or give your idea a new look.

Follow these steps to use the ‘Select from Screen’ tool
- First open Chrome on desktop.
- Click on the Ask Gemini button that appears at the top of the browser.
- Now select the plus (+) icon and click on add menu.
- Choose the Select from screen feature
- Now check the box where you want to ask for information.
- Enter any question and request in the text box.
- Press Esc to exit selection mode.
Users can change the size and position of the selected area by dragging the edges of the box or by moving the entire box. This new feature appears to be available with Chrome version 149. Users who have the latest version of Chrome can use this feature. But for this they may need to restart the browser. You can check for the latest Chrome update by going to the three-dot menu > Settings > About Chrome.
