Turkey midfielder Arda Güler became the youngest player in Turkey's history to score at a FIFA World Cup during his side's Group D match against the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match was played at SoFi Stadium, with Mustapha Ghorbal serving as the referee.
Güler found the net in the 10th minute at the age of 21 years and 120 days, surpassing the previous Turkish record held by Emre Belözoğlu, who scored at a World Cup aged 21 years and 275 days.
Turkey went on to defeat the United States 3-2 in the final Group D match.
The United States took the lead through defender Auston Trusty in the third minute. Güler equalized in the 10th minute before Turkey took the lead in the 31st minute.
The hosts drew level again early in the second half when Sebastian Berhalter scored from the edge of the penalty area in the 49th minute. However, defender Kaan Ayhan netted the winner in the eighth minute of stoppage time to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory for Turkey.
After three Group D matches, the United States finished first with six points. Australia claimed second place with four points, ahead of Paraguay on four points by tiebreaker, while Turkey finished fourth with three points.
