Andre Onana appears set for another stint in Turkey, with Manchester United reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season.

According to reports, Manchester United have reached their second agreement of the week, with Onana prepared to rejoin Trabzonspor on a second loan spell.

During the past season, Onana featured 33 times in all competitions for Trabzonspor, helping the Turkish club secure a third-place finish in the Super Lig and qualification for the Europa League play-off round.

Although his previous loan deal did not include an option or obligation to buy, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan recently confirmed that the club intended to bring the Cameroonian goalkeeper back to the Senol Gunes Sports Complex.

“We speak with Onana every day. We won’t have any financial difficulties,” Dogan stated. “We’ll make the necessary sacrifices. I don’t think we will experience any setbacks. But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality.”

As per Fabrizio Romano and various Turkish sources, a new loan arrangement has been verbally agreed, with Onana no longer part of Michael Carrick’s plans for the upcoming campaign at Manchester United.

It is believed that United will receive a loan fee from Trabzonspor, while final terms are being worked out before an official confirmation.

Onana’s departure would mark the fifth major exit from Old Trafford this summer, following those of Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia.

The Cameroon international lost his status as United’s first-choice goalkeeper early in the season and slipped further down the order after Senne Lammens joined on transfer Deadline Day last summer.

The Belgian shot-stopper’s solid performances since October, combined with Tom Heaton’s one-year contract extension, mean that Manchester United are not actively seeking a replacement for Onana.

However, with Besiktas reportedly interested in signing Altay Bayindir, Carrick could still prioritise bringing in another back-up goalkeeper later in the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are said to have overtaken Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Fernandes has emerged as a key summer target for Carrick, who is eager to refresh his midfield setup. Reports suggest that Ederson has already completed a medical ahead of a £38 million transfer from Atalanta, and United are now progressing with a move for the 21-year-old Portuguese player.

According to talkSPORT, Fernandes has reached a personal agreement with Manchester United, paving the way for a summer switch to Old Trafford.
